New Year, New Resolutions, New You?

Happy 2019 juicers!

Another year, another resolution that doesn’t seem to stick past the first week of January (don’t worry, we’ve all been there).

Here at SPJ headquarters we hate to see people fail in their goals and resolutions, so we’ve developed a quick checklist that will help you stay on track with your new year’s resolution this year! Are you ready?

Let’s go!

Attainable goals

First things first, when planning out your resolution for the new year let’s think big! But, before you go too crazy, let’s plan out what steps it will take to get you there. For example, if your goal is to become healthier. Ask yourself, how can I become healthier? What will it take on a daily basis to become healthier? You don’t have to cut out all your favorite foods, maybe start off by eating less fast food per week, or incorporate one green juice a day as daily routine.

You see, goals are important, but what’s most important is the journey. It’s the little steps that make you into who you are by the time you reach your destination. It’s the excitement and motivation that keep us going in order to achieve that goal of ours. So, write down your big goal then list off the steps you need to take to in order to reach it.

Write out your goals

According to Business Insider, 80% of New Year’s resolutions fail by February! A psychology professor at the Dominican University in California recently did a study on goal setting. During her study, she discovered that out of 267 people, 42% achieved their goals at a significantly higher level than those that did not write down it down. So, here’s our tip, get started on writing down your goals. Some people work better with digital planners and others with physical hands-on planners, whichever works best for you, but start using one, like today!

Create new healthy habits

Sometimes, this tip is the one that scares people (we get it, it’s hard to break out of your comfort zone), but it is doable! Here’s how, find a habit of yours that you’d like to break for the new year. It can be as little as going to bed earlier this year. The trick is, you don’t have to sleep at 8pm on the first night. “I don’t?” Nope. Try to wean yourself off of your night owl days by going to bed at least 5 minutes earlier than your normal bedtime. Before you know it, you’ll be sleeping like a baby and feeling refreshed in the morning.

Lastly, the most important tip is stay positive! Take your last year’s Negative Nancy out the door, it’s time for positive vibes only. You see, the more negative we are, the uglier we speak to ourselves in our mind, the more stressed and unloved we feel. So, let’s make a deal. Every morning when you wake up, say something nice to yourself. Just one thing, and see how much one nice compliment to yourself can transform your vibe for the day.

All in all, it all ties together. The more positive and goal seeking that we are, the happier and more focused we shall be. The healthier we are, the happier and better we’ll feel.
